About the artist:
CJ Hunter
Artist Bio
CJ Hunter is a 23-year-old woodturner from Northern, VA. Growing up, he was a competitive dancer and cheerleader, and is currently coaching. Starting woodturning in high school, he wanted to expand his woodworking knowledge at Tennessee Tech University. Of course, starting with the fundamentals, he now creates both sculptural pieces and utilitarian items. For his art and sculpture, he is interested in blending concepts of his psychology with the craft of woodturning. He portrays stories by creating fine art that invites the viewer to think twice about his pieces, giving them a second chance to see the art after the story behind it is told. His love of coaching and teaching is drawing him to a role where he can teach and help others learn woodworking and woodturning.
